Madrid E-Prix: Da Costa Takes Victory
At the opening round of Formula E in Madrid, Nick Cassidy started from pole position, thanks to his speed, ability to navigate the chaos of the race, and efficient energy management. However, his strategy did not pay off on the mixed wet-and-dry track, and the New Zealander finished only 17th.
From the opening laps, António Félix da Costa (Jaguar) took the lead, while a battle for second place unfolded between Mitch Evans and Dan Ticktum. Throughout the race, the lead positions changed frequently: Felipe Drugovich and Pepe Martí briefly moved to the front, but after the pit stops, da Costa regained the lead.
In the final laps, a dramatic Jaguar duel unfolded: da Costa held onto first place, securing his second consecutive victory, while Evans finished second. Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) claimed third, extending his advantage in the drivers’ championship.
Citroën Racing suffered a setback: Cassidy and his team finished well down the order due to a tactical error. The race results may still be subject to revision, as Evans is under investigation for a potential energy overuse violation.
