Masterclass in Japan: Verstappen Takes Pole in Style
Rising Tension in the New F1 Season as Pole Positions Continue to Rotate
The excitement in the new Formula 1 season continues to build. Across the four qualifying sessions held so far— including the sprint event in China— each has produced a different pole-sitter.
As RaceBrief.com reports, the pole position in Suzuka was decided in the final seconds, with a Red Bull driver narrowly outperforming his McLaren rivals. The Dutch driver secured the 41st pole position of his career. Pirelli supplied C1, C2, and C3 compounds for the event.
Ultimately, Max Verstappen claimed his first win of the season and the 64th victory of his career. This result allowed the experienced driver to significantly close the gap in the Drivers’ Championship standings. Lando Norris finished second, while Oscar Piastri completed the podium in third.
Among the notable highlights, rookie driver Isack Hadjar scored his first championship points, while Fernando Alonso successfully finished a race for the first time this season. Kimi Antonelli also made history, becoming the youngest driver in Formula 1 to lead a race and set the fastest lap.
The fourth round of the championship will be held in Bahrain, at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, from March 11 to 13.
