Red Bull and Ford Ignite Formula 1’s 2026 Era
The joint Red Bull and Ford presentation was held in Detroit, inside the iconic building of Michigan’s former central railway station. The ceremony began in keeping with tradition, opened with a striking video highlighting the new technological partnership.
Guests were first addressed by Bill Ford, the great-grandson of the company’s founder. He was followed by Laurent Mekies and Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley, who outlined the scale of the challenge ahead and the ambitions of the Red Bull Ford Powertrains project as Formula 1 approaches a new era.
According to Mekies, the updated RB22 livery pays tribute to the team’s roots and symbolizes the step into the 2026 season the first in which Red Bull will compete with its own power units. The presentation also featured a live video link to Milton Keynes, where Red Bull Powertrains technical director Ben Hodgkinson offered insights into the development of next-generation engines.
Stefano Domenicali emphasized that the upcoming regulatory changes will provide the championship with fresh momentum and open the door to new ideas and approaches.
The main focus of the evening was on Red Bull Racing, with Max Verstappen and newcomer Isack Hadjar unveiling the RB22 show car. While the team’s signature color scheme remains intact, the darker blue tone is now richer, and the glossy finish adds a subtle retro character.
The second part of the presentation was dedicated to Racing Bulls, who revealed the VCARB 03. The design features bolder visual elements, and the atmosphere was further energized when debutant Arvid Lindblad shared his admiration for Detroit native Eminem.
