Sainz Doubts Williams’ Chances
Carlos Sainz arrived late to Zandvoort due to heavy traffic but managed to speak with the media. The Spanish driver admitted that the first half of the season has been mentally challenging, and at this stage, he sees little reason for optimism.
"Changing teams always brings a lot of stress and pressure. At the beginning of the year, I had to travel frequently and spend a lot of time working in the simulator it's much harder than staying within a familiar team environment," Sainz said. He noted that the Zandvoort circuit may not suit the Williams car, and although the team is hopeful for good results, he personally remains cautious.
"The results so far have been far from ideal, but we’re trying to understand how to improve. I’m focusing on staying positive and leaving past frustrations behind," the driver added.
During the summer break, Sainz remained active, training regularly, including playing golf with his father and former tennis star Rafael Nadal. He also joined Slovenian cyclist and four-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar for a training ride, and acknowledged the significant difference in fitness levels, describing Pogacar's performance as far superior.
