Spa Glory for McLaren:Piastri Takes Win,Norris Second

Belgian Grand Prix:Piastri leads McLaren one-two finish at Spa

The 2025 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps concluded with a commanding performance by McLaren, as Oscar Piastri secured victory ahead of teammate Lando Norris, delivering the team’s 55th one-two finish in its storied history.

McLaren locked out the front row in qualifying, with Norris and Piastri lining up first and second on the grid. Behind them, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen shared the second row, while Alexander Albon — achieving his best qualifying result of the season — and George Russell completed the top six.

Norris retained the lead off the line, but a battery issue on the fourth corner of the opening lap hindered his pace, allowing Piastri to take control of the race. From that point on, the Australian managed the lead effectively.

Verstappen exerted sustained pressure on Leclerc throughout the middle stages of the race. Although the Monegasque driver made a minor error at La Source, he successfully defended his position and maintained third place.

By lap 35, the top ten running order was: Piastri – Norris – Leclerc – Verstappen – Russell – Albon – Hamilton – Lawson – Bortoleto – Gasly.

Norris gradually closed the gap to Piastri, but a resurgence in technical issues on lap 43 curtailed his challenge for the lead.

At the chequered flag, it was Oscar Piastri who emerged victorious, marking his eighth career Grand Prix win and his sixth of the 2025 season. Lando Norris finished second, contributing to McLaren's landmark 55th one-two result. Charles Leclerc completed the podium in third place, achieving his fifth podium of the year and the 834th in Scuderia Ferrari’s illustrious Formula 1 history.

Lewis Hamilton, starting from the pit lane due to pre-race technical changes, delivered a commendable performance to finish seventh — making up eleven positions over the course of the race.

Remarkably, all twenty starters were classified, as the race saw no retirements despite the challenging track conditions throughout the weekend.

The championship resumes next week at the Hungaroring for the final race before the summer break, concluding the first half of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
