Thailand Unveils Bangkok F1 Circuit
Thai sporting authorities have unveiled a new concept for an urban circuit in Bangkok, designed to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The country is actively seeking to secure a place on the championship calendar in 2028, and the government has already allocated USD 1.23 billion for the organization of the future race.
According to the project, the circuit will stretch 5.732 km, feature 18 turns, and run clockwise. The main straight will be 1.2 km long, and the grandstands will have a total capacity of over 108,000 spectators. In terms of lap length, the Bangkok circuit will rank eighth among current Formula 1 venues, positioned between Monza and the COTA circuit in Austin.
The agreement is expected to cover five years, from 2028 to 2032. Two potential dates for the event are being considered March or September. From a logistical standpoint, holding the race at the start of the season is more practical, as it would allow the Bangkok Grand Prix to be scheduled alongside other Asia-Pacific events in Australia, China, and Japan.
