Turkey Returns to the F1 Calendar

Formula 1 has officially announced the return of the Turkish Grand Prix, with a five-year agreement in place. The race is set to rejoin the calendar in 2027 at the Istanbul Park circuit.

The announcement was made by the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. Erdoğan emphasized the global popularity of the championship and noted that Turkey has previously hosted nine Grands Prix, adding that the event’s return reflects the country’s strong organizational capabilities and infrastructure.

Domenicali described Istanbul as a key and exciting addition to the calendar, highlighting the circuit’s challenging and spectacular nature. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem added that the decision underscores the continued global growth of motorsport and strengthens the championship’s presence in emerging markets.

To mark the occasion, Yuki Tsunoda drove a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car through the streets of Istanbul.
