2021:Red Bull vs Mercedes War on Wheels
In 2020, Max Verstappen began working with a new personal trainer Bradley Scanes, who had no prior experience in Formula1.
Speaking on the High Performance podcast, Scanes reflected on the intensity of the 2021 season:
“It was the most intense and unforgettable experience of my life. I had a front-row seat to one of the greatest rivalries in motorsport Max versus Lewis. They were so far ahead of the rest of the field, yet barely a second separated them for most of the season.
There were races where we felt the title was within reach, and others where everything seemed to unravel. The pressure was relentless. One moment that stands out was the Brazilian Grand Prix just three races left in the season. Our garages and motorhomes were right next to each other, but the teams wouldn’t even make eye contact. The atmosphere was electric tense enough to cut with a knife.
This wasn’t just racing. It was all-out war.
Everyone knows how it ended in Abu Dhabi, but regardless of the outcome, I truly believe both drivers were worthy of being world champion that year.”
