Alonso Marks 13 Years Without a Win

Spanish media have once again highlighted Fernando Alonso’s lengthy winless streak in Formula One. The two-time world champion last stood on the top step of the podium on May 12, 2013, when he claimed victory at his home Spanish Grand Prix while driving for Ferrari.

Alonso delivered one of the standout performances of the season that day, comfortably finishing ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel. Despite his strong result in Barcelona and several other impressive performances throughout the championship, the Spaniard was unable to mount a sustained title challenge. He eventually finished second in the drivers’ standings, trailing Vettel who secured his fourth consecutive world championship that year by 155 points.
