Andretti Expresses Interest in Bringing Leclerc to Cadillac

This weekend, the annual Festival dello Sport, organized by Gazzetta dello Sport, is taking place in Trento, Italy. Among the distinguished guests is the legendary 1978 Formula 1 World Champion Mario Andretti, often referred to as the “Hero of Two Worlds” for his remarkable achievements in both Europe and the United States.

During his appearance, Andretti shared memories of his early racing career, his affection for Ferrari, and his views on modern Formula 1:

“Max Verstappen is incredibly strong, while Oscar Piastri impresses me with his composure and confidence. Although I feel McLaren tends to favor Lando Norris a bit more. I’m also a big admirer of Charles Leclerc’s talent I’d gladly welcome him to Cadillac. But Ferrari is Ferrari; sooner or later, the team always finds its way back to the top.”

The legendary driver also admitted that he has begun to doubt Frederic Vasseur’s ability to lead Ferrari out of its current struggles.

Recalling his late-career return to the Scuderia, Andretti added:

“Enzo Ferrari invited me to replace the injured Didier Pironi. I completed 87 laps at Fiorano and set a record that stood for eight years.”
