Azerbaijan Grand Prix Sets Record TV Audience in the United States
The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 has become the most-watched edition of the race in the history of U.S. television broadcasts.
ESPN, the American broadcaster that has held Formula 1 rights for many years, recorded unprecedented viewer interest.
The live broadcast of Sunday’s main race attracted nearly 1.1 million viewers the highest audience ever for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in U.S. television history. It should be noted that the race began in the early morning hours U.S. time. The previous record was set in 2021 with 970,000 viewers, while in 2024 the figure stood at 865,000.
Overall, in 2025, Formula 1 races broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC have averaged 1.4 million viewers the highest result in the history of Formula 1 coverage in the United States. The previous record was 1.21 million viewers, set in 2022.
As a reminder, the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix took place on September 19–21. The winner of the race was Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
