Beganovic Takes F2 Pole
The first qualifying session of the season in the FIA Formula 2 Championship in Melbourne was marked by accidents and red flags. Early in the session, debutant Mari Boya of Prema Racing crashed his car, causing a temporary stoppage.
The initial fastest time was set by Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov of Campos Racing, but the battle intensified toward the end of the session. After a second red flag caused by Gabriele Minì’s crash, the drivers were left with only one decisive attempt.
In the end, Dino Beganovic of DAMS secured pole position. Martinius Stenshorne will start alongside him on the front row, while Alex Dunne and Noel León will line up on the second row of the grid.
Due to the partially reversed grid format, Thai debutant Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, who set the 10th fastest time, will start from pole position in Saturday’s sprint race. The race will take place at the Albert Park Circuit.
