Big Budget, Bigger Doubts

Big Budget, Bigger Doubts

British journalist Will Buxton criticized Cadillac’s team strategy on the Up to Speed podcast. According to him, the project has already “consumed” about one billion dollars, despite the team not having competed in a single race yet. At the same time, the team still lacks a title sponsor, leaving the financial burden to Cadillac, General Motors, TWG, and investor Dan Taurissa.

Buxton noted that operating with three separate bases in Fishers, Charlotte, and Silverstone is highly inefficient, especially for a new team. He also emphasized that the contrast between the American “work without pause” approach and the strict Formula 1 mentality may create additional challenges. The time zone difference only exacerbates the issue: the UK office works all day and then nearly all night due to the shifted U.S. schedule.
