Cadillac Set for F1 Debut
Andretti Name Dropped:New Team to Debut as Cadillac in 2026 Formula 1 Season
The team set to make its Formula 1 debut in the upcoming season will not carry the Andretti name. Instead, the team will officially enter the championship in 2026 under the name Cadillac.
In recent months, it had been speculated that the debuting team would compete as Cadillac, supported by General Motors (GM). The project is now officially recognized as a joint venture between General Motors and TWG Global, an investment company led by Dan Towriss. TWG Global recently acquired shares in Andretti Global, effectively taking full control of the project.
Until recently, the entity managing the Formula 1 team was officially registered as Andretti Racing Limited. However, the name of Michael Andretti has since been removed from official documentation and replaced with Cadillac. The team’s new legal name is now Cadillac Formula Racing Limited, and it will compete in the championship as the Cadillac F1 Team.
Initially, the team will receive technical support from Scuderia Ferrari, utilizing Ferrari’s power unit and gearbox. From 2028, the team plans to switch to a factory-built power unit developed entirely by General Motors. This move further strengthens Cadillac’s long-term commitment to Formula 1 and accelerates preparations for its highly anticipated debut in the 2026 season.
