Silverstone Qualifying:Rafael Camara Claims Pole Position
Championship leader Gabriele Mini arrives at Silverstone holding a slender two-point advantage over Nikola Tsolov. While the Italian has continued to score consistently, the Campos Racing driver has rapidly closed the gap following victories in Monaco and Barcelona.
Although much of the attention was focused on the title contenders, qualifying took an unexpected turn. Rafael Camara claimed his second pole position of the season with a lap of 1:39.690. He will share the front row for Sunday's Feature Race with Alex Dunne, while Kush Maini and Roman Bilinski secured positions on the second row.
Tsolov qualified fifth and told his team over the radio that he had extracted the maximum performance from the car. Mini finished tenth, which, under the reverse-grid regulations, earns him pole position for Saturday's Sprint Race.
It was a disappointing session for Colton Herta, who could manage only 15th place and will once again line up behind Sebastian Montoya. Given the aggressive racing style of both drivers, the battle in the midfield is expected to be just as captivating as the fight at the front of the field.
