Carlos Sainz Takes First Drive at the MadRing

Carlos Sainz became the first driver to complete a lap of the new MadRing circuit, which is set to host the Spanish Grand Prix from 2026 onwards. The Williams Racing driver took to the track in a Ford Mustang GT to evaluate the layout of the circuit, which remains under construction.

Sainz, who serves as an ambassador for the project and contributed to the circuit’s development, highlighted its high-speed corners, long straights, and challenging blind-apex sections. The Spaniard paid particular attention to the banked La Monumental corner, which features 24 degrees of banking and, according to him, is expected to provide spectacular wheel-to-wheel racing.
