March 22, 2026
Nick Cassidy claimed victory in the first-ever Formula E qualifying session at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama, securing a debut success for the Citroën Racing works team. It marked the New Zealander’s eighth pole position in the series.
In the final, he outpaced Nyck de Vries (Mahindra), setting a lap time of 1:37.141 and finishing 0.266 seconds ahead. The two will start from the front row, followed by António Félix da Costa (Jaguar) and Norman Nato (Nissan), with Edoardo Mortara and championship leader Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) lining up behind.
The three points awarded for pole position have elevated Cassidy to third place in the overall standings, moving him ahead of reigning champion Oliver Rowland.
