Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has been appointed to the Board of Directors of McLaren Group Holdings Limited.

The Italian executive first joined Ferrari in 1973 as an assistant to the company’s founder, Enzo Ferrari. In 1991, he was appointed President of Ferrari and played a key role in bringing Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne, and Michael Schumacher into the team, leading to one of the most successful eras in the company’s Formula 1 history.

Di Montezemolo left Ferrari in 2014 following a disagreement with Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne.
