Formula 2 Confirms Team Line-Up for 2027–2029 Seasons

Formula 2 organisers have officially confirmed the teams that will compete in the championship during the next three-year cycle, covering the 2027, 2028 and 2029 seasons. A total of 11 teams will remain on the grid, with each fielding two cars, maintaining a 22-driver line-up for every race. The most significant change to the championship's entry list will be the arrival of LN4 Fusion, a team associated with Formula 1 driver Lando Norris. The organisation will replace AIX Racing following changes to the team's ownership and management structure. The remaining ten teams will retain their places in the championship, ensuring continuity and stability over the coming seasons.Under the confirmed regulations, each team will continue to operate two cars, preserving the championship's established competitive structure. This format provides young drivers with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities, develop their racing skills and attract the attention of Formula 1 teams.Formula 2 continues to play a crucial role in the development of emerging motorsport talent. As the final major stepping stone towards Formula 1, the championship offers aspiring drivers valuable experience in high-level competition, technical development and collaboration with engineers, while preparing them for the demands of the sport's highest category.Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel highlighted the strong international interest in joining the championship, emphasising that the continued involvement of established teams reflects the series' competitiveness and reputation as a leading platform for young drivers.

Bruno Michel, Formula 2 CEO: "We have seen significant interest from teams around the world in joining the championship for the next three-year cycle. This demonstrates the strength of the series and its important position within international motorsport. It is particularly encouraging that we have retained ten of our existing teams. Their experience, professionalism and commitment are essential in providing the right environment for young drivers preparing to progress to Formula 1.I am also delighted to welcome LN4 Fusion to the championship. I am confident that the team will make a valuable contribution to the series and become a strong addition to the grid." The introduction of LN4 Fusion is particularly noteworthy because of its association with Lando Norris. The involvement of an established Formula 1 driver in a junior-category racing project highlights the growing emphasis on supporting and developing the next generation of motorsport talent.Retaining the majority of the existing teams also represents an important strategic achievement for Formula 2. A stable grid allows organisations to plan their development programmes over several seasons, strengthen their technical operations and establish long-term pathways for promising young drivers. With its 2027–2029 team line-up now confirmed, Formula 2 is preparing to enter a new competitive cycle while maintaining its established grid size and welcoming a new name to the championship. The organisers will aim to preserve the series' high level of competition and further strengthen its position as one of the most important development championships on the road to Formula 1.
