Formula 2 Post-Season Test Concludes at Yas Marina
On Friday, the three-day post-season FIA Formula 2 test concluded at the Yas Marina Circuit. The fastest time of the day was set by Alex Dunne, who recorded a lap of 1:37.153 during the morning session.
The morning programme focused on long runs using new Medium compound tyres. Kush Maini initially set the benchmark with a time of 1:39.864; however, the session was interrupted by red flags following Sebastian Montoya’s stoppage at Turn 14.
After the restart, drivers switched to short runs on the SuperSoft compound, with the lead changing several times before Dunne topped the timesheets. Teams then returned to race simulations, practising pit stops and start procedures.
In the afternoon session, few drivers attempted outright pace until the closing minutes, when Oliver Goethe set the fastest lap of the session with a time of 1:38.274.
With this, the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season has officially concluded. Teams will return to the circuit for pre-season testing in early 2026, ahead of the opening round of the new championship in Melbourne from 6 to 8 March.
