Formula 2:Dino Beganovic Scores Historic First Victory

The Formula 2 Saturday sprint in Baku was eventful and delivered an intense battle for the spectators. Following penalties that altered the starting grid, pole position went to Rafael Villagomez, but his race ended in the very first corner after contact with Pepe Marti.Oliver Goethe also spun at the same turn, resulting in three retirements on the opening lap.Dino Beganovic immediately took the lead and managed to assert control of the race.

At the restart, Sebastian Montoya and Martinius Stenshorne stayed close behind Beganovic, but the Trident debutant soon faced technical issues and retired.The safety car was deployed once again, while light rain over Baku added further challenge.

Midway through the race,Alex Dun moved up to third place but soon made a mistake and lost positions, which were recovered first by Luke Browning and then by Gabriele Mini. Meanwhile, Montoya fell back due to engine problems. Toward the end of the race, Jack Crawford advanced to fourth and nearly caught Dun, but the checkered flag came before he could overtake.

Beganovic secured a convincing victory, finishing more than six seconds ahead of Browning.This marked the Swedish driver’s first win in Formula 2. Browning strengthened his second place in the drivers’ standings, while championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli, finishing fifth, maintained the top spot, although his lead was reduced.
