Formula E Marks 150th Race in Mexico City

Today, the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City will host the second round of the 12th season of Formula E the landmark 150th race in the history of the all-electric championship, which was granted World Championship status six years ago.

Mexico City is staging a Formula E event for the tenth time. For this season, the circuit has undergone several minor changes: the section through Turn 1 has been narrowed, while the chicane between Turns 8 and 9 has been removed, a move expected to increase race intensity and overtaking opportunities.

FIA Formula E Race Director Pablo Martino described the 150-race milestone as a significant moment for the championship, highlighting its continued growth, technological innovation, and ability to deliver exciting racing in urban environments.

Reigning World Champion and winner of last year’s Mexico City E-Prix, Oliver Rowland, said he is eager to return to the circuit. He emphasized that the atmosphere in Mexico City is always exceptional and noted that the revised layout could encourage more overtaking. Rowland also pointed out that in recent seasons, the winner of the Mexico City race has gone on to claim the World Championship, and he is determined to repeat that achievement.
