Formula E Pre-Season in Valencia
Pre-season Formula E testing is currently taking place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, with all championship teams participating.
On Thursday, the fastest lap was set by reigning champion Oliver Rowland of Nissan, completing a circuit in 1:21.498 just 0.005 seconds shy of the overall test record set by Edoardo Mortara of Mahindra. Today, Nissan’s car is being driven by F1 Academy champion Abbie Pulling, who is also showing a consistent pace.
New drivers are making their debuts: Tatiana Calderon is competing for Citroen Racing, established on the basis of Maserati, bringing experience from F3, F2, Formula 1, IndyCar, and endurance racing. Andretti has entrusted their car to Nerea Martí, who previously raced in F1 Academy and W Series Academy.
Mahindra continues to demonstrate strong performance, with Mortara and Nick de Vries consistently at the top of the timesheets, while Taylor Barnard, who recently moved to DS Penske, recorded the second-fastest time.
A separate day of testing is dedicated exclusively to female drivers. Among those on track today are top competitors such as three-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick (Jaguar) and 19-year-old Yuya Noda, the first woman to compete in Super Formula.
