Four Teams Stay for Hungary Tire Test

Following the Hungarian Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from August 1 to 3 at the Hungaroring circuit, Formula 1 teams will enter a brief summer break. However, four teams will remain on-site to participate in a scheduled Pirelli tire testing session on August 5 and 6.

Ferrari, Racing Bulls, and McLaren will each conduct one day of testing, while Alpine is set to run across both days. These tests will focus on evaluating prototype tire constructions intended for the upcoming season. In accordance with FIA regulations, tire construction specifications must be finalized by September 1, with compound development to be completed by December 15.

Following the Hungarian session, Pirelli has planned three additional two-day testing events, as part of the ongoing development program for the 2026 tire range. These sessions are set to take place at Monza, Mugello, and Mexico City.

For the Hungarian Grand Prix itself, Pirelli will supply teams with the C3, C4, and C5 compounds. Notably, the 2025 season has introduced a new, softer compound — the C6 — to the Pirelli lineup.

However, due to the technical demands of the Hungaroring layout and the typically high track temperatures — which reached a record 58.6°C during last year’s event — the C6 compound has been deemed unsuitable for use at this venue.
