From F1 to GT3:Verstappen to Race the Nordschleife
In September, Max Verstappen obtained a license from the German federation, granting him eligibility to compete in the NLS series on the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife in the GT3 class.
Today, the reigning Formula 1 World Champion confirmed that on September 27 he will make his debut in a four-hour race, driving a Ferrari 296 GT3 for the Swiss team Emil Frey Racing. His teammate will be British driver Chris Lulham, who has previously competed alongside Verstappen in the GT World Challenge Europe and in sim racing championships.
“GT3 racing is my passion, so I am looking forward to the start with great anticipation,” said Verstappen. “The Nordschleife offers a unique experience with every lap, and the atmosphere at endurance events is always special. Beyond Formula 1, I enjoy exploring other racing categories. My dream is to one day take part in the 24-hour race.”
The next Nurburgring 24 Hours is scheduled for May 16–17, 2026, and the calendar may allow Verstappen the opportunity to finally realize this ambition.
