George Russell at the Monte-Carlo Masters
There are indeed informal connections between Formula 1 and professional tennis: athletes follow each other’s performances, communicate, and even form friendships.
In the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters, Jannik Sinner convincingly defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime. The match was observed from his box not only by his family, but also by Mercedes driver George Russell. After the match, they briefly spoke, and during the press conference Sinner noted that he and Russell are good friends who support one another. The Italian also occasionally visits the team during Formula 1 race weekends.
Sinner has long shown a strong interest in motorsport; recently in Miami, he even congratulated his friend Kimi Antonelli on his victory at the Japanese Grand Prix.
In the semifinal, Sinner will face Alexander Zverev, and it is possible that Formula 1 drivers will once again be present in the stands, as the current break in the season has provided them with more free time than usual.
