Hamilton Speaks on His Friendship with Vettel

Lewis Hamilton admitted that his relationship with Sebastian Vettel has come a long way from fierce rivalry on the track to a genuine friendship beyond it. According to the Ferrari driver, their mutual respect has only grown stronger as both came to realize that sport is not the only thing that defines a person.

Hamilton shared that Vettel often supports him during difficult times and always finds the right words to help him maintain inner balance. He emphasized that Sebastian possesses a rare combination of strength and empathy, capable of inspiring others and bringing people together around meaningful causes.

“He’s not someone who focuses solely on himself,” Lewis noted. “Sebastian was there for me during truly challenging periods and continues to stay in touch, sending messages of support before race weekends. I’m deeply grateful for our friendship and for the fact that I can now call him a friend rather than a rival.”
