Hamilton: "We Need to Close the Gap" After Silverstone Sprint

Lewis Hamilton converted pole position into an early lead in the British Grand Prix Sprint but was unable to keep Kimi Antonelli behind, as the Mercedes driver's superior pace ultimately earned him victory at Silverstone.

Lewis Hamilton: "It was a tough race. I did everything I could to keep Kimi behind, but once he got within a second of me, I knew it was only a matter of time before he made his move.

I mentioned yesterday that this was a possibility. The strong headwind down the Hangar Straight made a difference, and he was able to get past.

I pushed as hard as I possibly could and gave absolutely everything out there. Congratulations to Kimi on the victory. We now have to analyse where we were lacking and work hard to close the gap."
