Helmut Marko Exits Red Bull After Tumultuous Months
In Abu Dhabi, Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko found himself at the center of rumors regarding a possible departure today, media outlets reported his dismissal as a confirmed fact. Dutch publication De Limburger outlined the reasons behind the company’s decision.
Among them was Marko’s unilateral signing of a contract with Arvid Lindblad, who will become Liam Lawson’s teammate at Racing Bulls next season, without consulting management. Additionally, Marko signed an agreement with Alex Dunne, who had left the McLaren program, despite Red Bull’s senior leadership having already decided not to include him in the junior program. The contract had to be terminated, with a significant compensation payout.
After the Qatar Grand Prix, Marko accused Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli of deliberately letting Lando Norris pass, which triggered a wave of online backlash and led to official apologies from Red Bull.
All of these events contributed to the decision to part ways with Marko at the end of the year. Bild reports that Red Bull does not plan to appoint a successor.
