''I Just Want a Burger and to Go Home' Norris after DNF

Unfortunately, McLaren’s celebrations were tempered by the retirement of Piastri’s teammate, Lando Norris, who was forced to retire just a few laps from the finish due to technical issues. The Briton had been running solidly in second place throughout the race, keeping the pressure on Piastri and appearing set for a podium finish.

“The pace was there, and I really felt like I could fight for the win,” Norris admitted. “But overtaking here is incredibly difficult especially when you're stuck in the dirty air behind your teammate. It’s tough on the tyres and their temperatures. Still, I stayed within striking distance. We ran a smart race, but in the end, I just got unlucky the car suddenly lost power and I had to retire. It’s frustrating, especially knowing I could’ve taken home 18 points. But that’s racing, and you’ve got to take the rough with the smooth.”

Norris concluded his comments on a more positive note:

“Oscar fully deserved the win he was fast and made no mistakes. Now I just need to move on, learn from this, and bounce back. Right now, though, I just want a burger and to go home.”

In the end, the race at Zandvoort brought mixed emotions for McLaren: on one hand, a dominant win from Piastri and his growing lead in the championship; on the other a costly retirement for Norris, which could impact the team standings. The next stop is Monza, Ferrari’s home race, and a new opportunity for McLaren to consolidate their momentum in the 2025 season.
