India Takes First Step Toward Formula 1 Return

India's Ministry of Sports has established a special commission to examine the prospects of bringing Formula 1 back to the country.

The commission will assess the potential impact of the project on India's international profile, economy, tourism sector, and investment attractiveness, while also evaluating the development needs of the nation's motorsport infrastructure. The group is expected to submit its recommendations to the government within three months.

The decision follows a meeting involving representatives of Formula 1, Adani Group, owner of the Buddh International Circuit, the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), and Indian racing drivers. The circuit previously hosted the Indian Grand Prix from 2011 to 2013.
