Kush Maini Claims His First Victory of the Season
Following qualifying in Barcelona, the stewards imposed penalties on Joshua Durksen and Ritomo Miyata, leading to changes on the Sprint Race starting grid.
At the start of the race, Kush Maini made a superb getaway to seize the lead from pole-sitter Noel Leon. Behind him, a fierce battle for the podium positions developed, with Nikola Tsolov, Gabriele Mini and Colton Herta all in contention.
Mini fought his way into second place, while Herta recovered several positions during the second half of the race to join the battle for a podium finish. However, the American driver made a costly error in the closing stages, dropping down the order and allowing Tsolov to hold on to third place.
Maini went on to claim a dominant Sprint Race victory, crossing the line ahead of Mini in second, with Tsolov completing the podium in third. As a result, Mini strengthened his lead in the championship standings, extending his advantage over the Bulgarian driver to three points.
