Lando Norris Leads Sprint Grid in Miami
After a lengthy break following the Japanese Grand Prix, the 2026 season resumed at the Miami Grand Prix, featuring updated regulations and a noticeable shift in the competitive order.
In the sole 90-minute practice session, Charles Leclerc set the fastest time, although teams were primarily focused on testing upgrades. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli encountered power unit issues, but Mercedes managed to resolve them ahead of qualifying.
During sprint qualifying, all drivers initially ran on the Medium compound, with Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, and others eliminated in the early stages. In the decisive Soft-tyre run, a single lap proved decisive as Lando Norris dominated to secure pole position, finishing ahead of Antonelli.
The sprint will see Norris and Antonelli line up on the front row, followed by Oscar Piastri and Leclerc on the second row, with Max Verstappen and George Russell occupying the third row.
