Lando Norris to Race with Championship Number 1

Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris has announced that he will race under number 1 in the upcoming season.

According to the regulations, the reigning champion can either retain their usual number in Lando’s case, 4 or use the championship number 1. The Briton opted for the latter, as Max Verstappen did in recent years, unlike Lewis Hamilton, who continued to race with 44.

Norris explained his choice: “Number 1 is a tradition and a mark of recognition. At McLaren, we are all proud of this: the mechanics, engineers, and the entire team deserve this honor. This is not just my number, but their victory. ‘We are first’ sounds far better than ‘we are fourth’!”
