Leclerc Enjoys Baku Circuit Despite Past Crash

Charles Leclerc:Baku City Circuit Still One of My Favorites Despite 2019 Crash

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has shared his thoughts ahead of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025, reflecting on his past experiences at the challenging Baku City Circuit.

Leclerc admitted that the track holds a special place for him, even though it was the scene of one of his most notable setbacks in 2019, when he crashed at the narrow Turn 8 during qualifying. Despite that incident, the Monegasque maintains a positive outlook on racing in Baku.

“I really enjoy driving here,” Leclerc said. “Of course, I have some memories of my mistake at Turn 8 back in 2019, but overall, I love the track. It gives me a lot of adrenaline, and I think it brings out the best in us as drivers.”

Known for its combination of long straights, sharp 90-degree corners, and the iconic section around Baku’s old city walls, the circuit has often delivered dramatic races and unexpected outcomes. For Leclerc, that unpredictability adds to its appeal.

As Ferrari continues its push in the 2025 championship battle, Leclerc is looking forward to turning his passion for the circuit into a strong result for the team this weekend.
