Verstappen Reacts to Chaotic Race
Max Verstappen Reflects on Chaotic Australian Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts on the chaotic Australian Grand Prix.
As RaceBrief.com recalls, the Dutch driver moved up from third to second at the start but could not maintain the position until the end. With heavy rain falling toward the race’s conclusion, Oscar Piastri lost control and crashed, which allowed Verstappen to take the lead. Despite this, McLaren made a strategic call to pit Lando Norris for wet tires. Their decision proved excellent, enabling Norris to retain the lead.
The four-time world champion made several attempts to overtake Norris but was unable to do so.
Verstappen said:
“The first race of the season was tough. I pushed as hard as I could until the final lap to win. It was important to finish well and score points for my team. In my opinion, the opening round of the championship can be considered a success for Red Bull.”
