Massa Takes 2008 Fight to Court
Court hearings have begun in London regarding Felipe Massa’s lawsuit against the FIA, Formula 1, and Bernie Ecclestone. The Brazilian driver accuses them of collusion and inaction following Nelson Piquet Jr.’s deliberate crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
Massa claims that the desire to conceal the scandal cost him the World Championship title and millions of euros. He is seeking official recognition as the rightful 2008 champion, compensation of approximately £64 million, and a formal apology from the FIA.
The federation issued a sharp response, calling the lawsuit “as absurd as it is ambitious.” The statement notes that Massa, “a millionaire from Brazil,” has filed a claim in the UK over events that occurred 17 years ago, while disregarding his own mistakes and those of Ferrari, which also affected the outcome of that season.
