McLaren Aims Another Record in Austin

McLaren on Track for Historic Success in the 2025 Formula1 Season

As the 2025 Formula1 season progresses, McLaren appears well-positioned to claim both the Constructors’ Championship and the Drivers’ title. With ten rounds remaining, the Woking-based team has established a commanding 299-point lead over its nearest competitor, Ferrari.

In the Drivers’ standings, Oscar Piastri currently holds the top spot, leading teammate Lando Norris by nine points and enjoying a 97-point advantage over reigning World Champion Max Verstappen.

Across the opening 14 Grands Prix, both Piastri and Norris have delivered remarkably consistent performances, each securing 12 podium finishes. Their combined total of 24 podiums places McLaren 15th on the all-time list for most podium finishes in a single season by a team. The current record 33 podiums was set by Mercedes in 2016.

To surpass this benchmark, McLaren requires 10 additional podium finishes over the final 10 races of the season. Given the team's current momentum and reliability, the prospect of breaking the record is not only realistic but increasingly likely. Should favourable results continue, McLaren could potentially set a new all-time record as early as October’s United States Grand Prix in Austin.
