McLaren Parts Ways with Alex Dunn

McLaren has announced the termination of its cooperation with Irish driver Alex Dunn, a member of the team’s young driver academy.

Dunn joined the programme last year during his rookie season in Formula 3. In 2025, he stepped up to Formula 2 and, with two rounds remaining, currently sits fifth in the drivers’ standings. In addition, the young driver has already taken part in two Formula 1 Friday practice sessions, in Spielberg and Monza.

In an official statement, McLaren Racing said:
“We have decided to part ways with Alex Dunn, a member of our young driver development programme. Over the past year, we have enjoyed working with him, supporting his growth, and witnessing his achievements. However, our collaboration comes to an end with immediate effect. We thank Alex for his efforts and wish him all the best in his future career.”

According to paddock sources, the split was the result of disagreements between Dunn and McLaren regarding the future direction of his career.
