McLaren Penalized at Dutch GP
During the second practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix, a potentially dangerous incident nearly occurred on the pit lane involving Oscar Piastri and George Russell. The McLaren driver intended to enter his garage, but the access was temporarily blocked by team personnel, one of whom was holding the rear jack. At that moment, another mechanic signaled to Piastri to maneuver around the obstruction, prompting the driver to rejoin the fast lane of the pit lane.
As a result of this maneuver, George Russell, who was approaching from behind, was forced to brake sharply in order to avoid a collision. The stewards deemed the situation potentially hazardous, noting that team members in the vicinity could have been injured had contact occurred.
Following an investigation, the stewards concluded that McLaren had failed to adhere to proper safety procedures and imposed a fine of €5,000 on the team.
