Mercedes on Top in Canada
Canadian Grand Prix was held in a sprint format for the first time, and the short race in Montreal delivered an action-packed contest. Following a strong qualifying performance, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team confirmed its pace in the sprint by locking out the front row of the grid.
At the start, George Russell maintained the lead, while an intense battle unfolded behind him between Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris. Several drivers encountered problems and penalties during the race, while Fernando Alonsoretired due to technical issues.
In the closing stages, Norris successfully defended second place against Antonelli’s attacks. Russell went on to secure victory in the sprint, reducing the gap in the championship standings, while Antonelli finished third and set the fastest lap of the race.
