Mugham Performance Marks Azerbaijan GP Start
Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Opening Marked by Mugham Performance
The official opening ceremony of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025, held at the Baku City Circuit, began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
This year, the anthem was performed by world-renowned khananda, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Alim Qasimov, together with Fargana Qasimova. Their unique rendition was accompanied by a special stage composition and visual elements symbolizing the national tricolor flag. The ceremony also featured one of Azerbaijan’s key national symbols the eight-pointed star.
It should be noted that in 2003, Azerbaijani Mugham was proclaimed by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” and was subsequently inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. This recognition once again underlines Mugham’s significance as one of the most treasured expressions of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage worldwide.
This unforgettable moment, reflecting our national music and cultural heritage, officially launched the final race of the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025.
