From early morning, the grandstands in Monza were filled, and by evening the number of fans in red attire had noticeably increased. Drivers began the session on the harder Hard and Medium compounds, testing their performance over a distance.
There was no shortage of incidents: Gasly went off at Ascari, Albon impeded Hamilton, and Kimi Antonelli became stuck in the gravel at Lesmo 2, which brought out the red flags. Bortoleto overtook a rival under yellow flags but escaped penalty. Errors at Lesmo were also made by Piastri and Albon, while Leclerc and Hamilton both ran through the gravel.
