Opel GSE Team Hits the Track

Madrid will host its first Formula E round, and today it was announced that starting next season, the championship will feature the factory team Opel GSE Formula E Team. The team’s name is derived from the GSE line of electric vehicles, which the German manufacturer has been producing since 2022.

According to Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, Opel’s entry will bring fresh energy to the championship, leveraging the brand’s extensive motorsport experience and innovative engineering solutions. Florian Hüttl, head of Opel, stated that the team’s debut coincides with the introduction of GEN4 cars, and the squad will showcase the core values of the brand: reliable German engineering, bold design, and a strong commitment to achieving high performance.

The official presentation of the new team is scheduled for April at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France. Meanwhile, the DS brand will no longer participate in Formula E, and Opel GSE will compete under its own license rather than inheriting the license from DS Penske.
