O’Ward Prefers IndyCar Over Formula 1

Mexican driver Pato O’Ward, who competes for McLaren in IndyCar, has stated that he has lost interest in Formula 1 due to the 2026 regulations. In his view, modern technologies make on-track competition overly artificial.

Although he remains a test driver for the team and has previously taken part in Grand Prix practice sessions, unlike Colton Herta who continues to pursue a career in Formula 1 O’Ward no longer aspires to enter the championship. He believes that IndyCar currently offers more “authentic” racing.

After four rounds of the season, O’Ward sits sixth in the standings and is set to start from the front row at Long Beach. His performance was praised by team principal Zak Brown, who commended his strong qualifying result.
