Paffett Joins Cupra Kiro as Race Director
Gary Paffett has been a fixture in motorsport media for over 25 years, and now the 44-year-old Briton is back in the spotlight after being appointed Racing Director of the American Formula E team, Cupra Kiro.
Although the UK-based team did not enjoy a standout performance last season, it managed to attract attention in the latter half of the championship.Driver Dan Ticktum delivered a series of milestones claiming the team’s first-ever podium, pole position, and race victory in its history.
Paffett brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to the role. A two-time DTM champion, he previously served as a test driver for McLaren and made his Formula E debut in 2018. After retiring from racing in 2019, he transitioned into management, first as a sporting and technical advisor for the Mercedes EQ Formula E team and later as team manager. Under his guidance, Mercedes clinched both titles in the FIA Formula E World Championship. When the team was rebranded as the McLaren Formula E Team, Paffett took on the role of Sporting Director.
Following McLaren's withdrawal from the championship,Paffett quickly found a new opportunity by signing with Cupra Kiro.
