Red Bull Powertrains on Track: Ford Confident Ahead of Debut
Mark Rushbrook,Head of Ford Performance Motorsport, provided an update on the development of the Red Bull Powertrains power unit, offering a reason for optimism to the Milton Keynes team. According to him, the joint project with Ford is progressing strictly according to plan.
The American company is providing full support to Red Bull Racing at every stage of the work, but the true assessment will only be possible after the first on-track tests. It will be then that the results of three years of intensive development can be properly evaluated.
Rushbrook noted that the debut of a new engine is always accompanied by some tension: simulations, bench testing, and laboratory trials provide extensive data, but the track can always reveal unforeseen challenges.
In recent months, the main focus has been on refining the performance and calibrating the power unit, using a combination of computer modeling, bench testing, and simulator work with the drivers.
