Red Bull's Austrian Upgrade Could Decide Verstappen's Future
Red Bull Racing will introduce its most significant upgrade package of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix in a bid to improve the RB22's competitiveness.
One of the RB22's main issues since the start of the season has been excess weight, with the car reportedly around 12 kilograms above the minimum weight limit. With a major upgrade package set to debut at the Austrian Grand Prix, Red Bull aims to bring the car down to its target weight and complete its weight-reduction programme.
The update is significant not only for the team's on-track performance but also in the context of Verstappen's future. Although the Dutchman remains under contract until the end of 2028, he has yet to confirm whether he intends to see out the full term of his agreement.
Red Bull hopes the new developments will make the RB22 considerably more competitive and convince Verstappen to remain with the team at least through the 2027 season.
