Six Sprint Weekends Confirmed for 2026
Formula 1 and the FIA have officially confirmed the sprint race calendar for the 2026 season, which will feature six events.
As expected, Shanghai and Miami will once again host sprint weekends for the third consecutive year reinforcing their status as permanent venues for this format.
The key change will be the return of the sprint to Silverstone: the British circuit last staged the experimental format in its inaugural year, 2021, and now rejoins the list. In addition, sprint races will debut for the first time at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, and the Singapore Grand Prix the latter already regarded as one of the most spectacular and demanding events on the calendar.
Thus, the 2026 sprints will be spread across three continents Asia, North America, and Europe and will also include a unique night race in Southeast Asia.Formula 1 management emphasizes that the selection aims to diversify the calendar and test the format on a wide variety of circuits, ranging from modern facilities to historic venues and challenging street tracks.
In total, six sprint weekends will be held in 2026,maintaining the established practice of recent seasons. Organizers underline that fan interest in Saturday races continues to grow, confirming that the experiment launched five years ago is evolving and finding new opportunities for development.
