Tsolov Claims Formula 2 Sprint Victory at Silverstone
Nikola Tsolov claimed victory in the Formula 2 Sprint Race at Silverstone after overtaking championship rival Gabriele Mini on the final lap. The Italian driver, who started from pole position, led for most of the race but came under increasing pressure from the Campos Racing driver in the closing stages.
The race was neutralised by a Safety Car following a collision between Sebastian Montoya and John Bennett. Once racing resumed, Tsolov passed Rafael Villagomez for second place before launching a series of attacks on Mini for the lead.
The decisive move came on the final lap when Mini locked up, opening the door for Tsolov to complete the overtake and secure his second consecutive Sprint Race victory.Mini crossed the line in second, with Villagomez taking third.
The victory sees Tsolov draw level with Mini on 116 points in the Formula 2 Drivers' Championship. However, the Bulgarian moves to the top of the standings on countback, having recorded more race wins this season.
